UPDATE... 5th Week

It has been a while since I posted...Apologies. Since the last post a lot has happend. We have a build site on the third floor of the High Rise at Klein High School. It has been fantastic. We have a lot of room to work and run the bot around comapared to last year.

We have built the Kit Chassis supplied by Andy Mark, with ToughBox Minis.
We have had a lot of participation throughout this season, lots of young students finding there place on the team.

We are in the final stages of the build. We only have 8 days left till bag day! The bot is coming together very well. We are proud to announce many sponsors. Swagelok, Baker Hughes, and Champoin Fiberglass. They are what is making this season possbile.

The current bot state is fully functional with no encoder, limit switches, or and autonomous. But the bot is in great shape.

We are planning on spending out last weekend testing and practicing with our good friends Spectrum at there build site.

The Hunt for a Work Place

Our team is still looking for a place to work for the build season and after. We are trying to work out a deal with Klein ISD, but are very open to outside sources. The robot can not be built in my garage. I would love to have it there but this area is way to small. Plus parking is non existent.

After we get a location our main goal will be how fast we can fill it with tools. We will have all the teams tools along with a couple team members that will bring up there tools. We are always in need of tools though.  Please feel free to contact me if you want to doante any tools. We will take anything. We are also looking for an old oven that can be donated. This will be for pouder coating. The larger the oven can hold the better.

Staying on the topic of donations, we are looking much better than last year when it comes to funds for the robot itself. We will still be having other fundraisers, such as the light bulbs and a yard sale. Also, the donate button on the website is updated. This is a non-profit so anything donated is a tax right off. Please encourage family members and friends to donate to a wonderful cause!

When is comes to the preperation of build season we are hoping to purchase a second crio as soon as the First Choice opens. We are most likley going to  also pick up 4 talons for the drive motors. We will be sticking with the Drive in a day Chasis from Vex for our practice/prototype bot. We are planning on begining the final build on our final bot during the 3rd week of build season. We are very excited to have gained about 20 more members since last year. The members are very excited for their first First season. We have new Cadders, mechanical guys, and some really strong coders. Its going to be a great year full of memorable moments

KleinBots Shoot Tee Shirts at Volleyball Game

The KleinBots attended the season home opener for the Lady Bearkats at Klein HS on Aug 30th. The bot has been modified...adding 2 tee shirt cannons to the system. We shot tee shirts into the stands during time-outs of the varsity game.  The effort is important to raise awareness of the team to help promote membership as well as possibly recruit new sponsors.

If you would like the robot to perform at your event, please contact us and we will work to make it happen.

And if you havent already check out the revamped Klein Bots Website!

Updates to off-season Bot

Got together tonight for a small build.  Got one cannon mounted and got all the wiring figured out.  Decided to use the 4 relay board instead of the solenoid breakout,  so that was wired in.  We are attending the two volleyball games on Friday night with the robot! We will be shooting tshirts into the stands at the JV @ 4:30 and Varsity @ 5:30.  It will be a great chance to show off the robot and get our name it into the community!  While also supporting our Klein ISD sports
